The Truth About Paid Survey Sites And How They Work…

First let me say, do NOT join any site that is asking you for money in order to get their list of survey sites or to make money with surveys. These lists they sell you are nothing more than a compiled listing of sites that are free for anyone to join. You can find these same sites listed, at no charge to you, at hundreds of sites on the internet, including this one. A simple Google search will return thousands of results… so please do not pay!

Okay now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about paid survey sites. Can you really earn money with them? The answer is yes you can. Can you make enough to live off of.. no you cannot. Not a minimum amount of money you can depend on earning each month anyway. Here is why…

Qualifying For Surveys…

Like with most all products, services, publications, movies, etc., surveys depend on certain demographic groups. When a company puts out a survey, they do so with the intent of targeting the demographics that the item the survey is for will appeal to. For example, you would not want males completing surveys for feminine hygiene products or non-smokers filling out surveys for tobacco companies.

Companies may offer tons of surveys a month, most don’t by the way.. but even if they did or for the ones that do, your chances of qualifying for these surveys will depend on the demographics needed for each particular one. Qualifying is not something you can depend on, therefore depending on the money made from paid surveys, in order to put food on your table, would not be a wise idea at all.

When you first sign up for a survey company, most will have you fill out a questionnaire (screener). This normally covers a variety of topics about you personally and the members of your household. Some people get turned off by this and never fill them out. Big mistake.. this is what they use to get YOUR demographics in order to know what kind of surveys to send you. If you are serious about trying to earn as much as you can from paid surveys, fill out the form!

Frequency Of Surveys Offered…

This is something that is going to vary from one survey company to the other. There are different types of companies out there, some that target all industries, and some that are more niche related, such as film production companies, technical companies, etc. The more popular survey companies will naturally have more to offer, however the above information about qualifying for the surveys offered will determine whether you are eligible for it or not. So in reality, one month you may have several surveys to do, and the next month none.

Do They All Pay Cash…

No they do not. A paid survey can be anything that offers you something in return for doing that survey. This can be cash, products, drawing/contest entries, points, etc. In cases of companies that pay with points, here again this will vary per company, the points can be used in a variety of ways. With some, they can be traded in for cash, with others you may have to use the points on products offered in their “reward catalogs”, or they may only offer you the option of trading your points for contest entries to win cash and/or prizes.

If a survey company offers you anything at all in return for participating in a survey, then it is considered a “paid survey”. If you are only interested in earning cash money, be sure to read their Terms & Conditions, Rules and /or Guidelines to find out how they specifically operate.

Affiliate Programs And How They Work

What Are Affiliate Programs?

Simply put, an affiliate program is an opportunity for individuals (the affiliates) to earn money on a cost per action basis. This action can be the purchase of the products or services the company offers, or in some programs it could be leads or click-throughs that might eventually generate revenue for the company that operates the affiliate program.

How Do Affiliate Programs Work?

An affiliate program is a program that is set up by the owner or manager of a company, where in they allow individuals, who are not employees of the company, to sign on as an affiliate. The affiliate, also referred to as an associate, is assigned a unique “affiliate ID” that is used to track all activity that takes place on the company’s website, as a result of that unique ID.

What Does An Affiliate Of A Company Do?

The affiliate’s “job” is to advertise the company’s products or services through the use of text ads, banners, emails and/or text links. The better affiliate programs usually have plenty of these for you to choose from, that have either already been encoded with the affiliate’s ID, or provides clear instructions on how it is to be added. The affiliate posts these ads in order to generate traffic to the company’s website. Hopefully this traffic will result in sales, sign-ups or whatever action the program requires.

How Does An Affiliate Earn Money?

In return for generating business for the company, they pay the affiliate a commission for any sales (or the action the program requires) that are made through that affiliate’s ID. The commission can be a percentage of the total sale amount or a flat rate.

Some affiliate programs even allow for earnings to be made by referring others to the affiliate program itself. This is known as tiers or downline earnings. Depending on the program, the money you earn from your downline is usually a percentage of their earnings, however, in some affiliate programs, a flat rate fee may be offered. Then there are those that offer both a fee and a percentage of their downlines earnings.

Some programs even offer multiple tiers, meaning your referrals can have referrals, that have referrals, that have referrals and so on.. and you earn from all of them!

Do You Have To Have Your Own Website To Be An Affiliate?

Some affiliate programs prefer or require that you have a website, most do not, some even provide you with an affiliate website. There are several ways you can promote a company online and off without ever having the need for your own personal site to do so.

If you do have your own site however, it will increase your earning potential. Especially if you have a niche related site that targets a particular audience. There are thousands of affiliate programs available to choose from. You are almost assured of finding programs that relate to your visitors interests.

There are even people out there making tons of money that have made sites for no other reason than to post all of their affiliate programs information on. Smart move.. you can make a lot of money by generating multiple streams of income. Think outside the box a bit.. with affiliate programs you are really only limited by your imagination.
